MINERVA ON THE MOVE SERVICES PLATFORM

DVB-H platform

DVB-H platform

DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcasting Handheld) is an open standard developed by "DVB". DVB-H technology is an IP broadcasting platform aimed at handheld terminals. It combines video compression and the "DVB-T" transmission system, the standard used by DTT (Digital Terrestrial Television). DVB-H makes terrestrial TV reception possible on battery-powered handheld receivers. In other words, DVB-H is a modification of the "DVB-T" standard, adapted to the requirements of mobile terminals. DVB-H also makes interactivity possible in a simple way using the 3G network, as well as enabling integration with other content services (such as VF Live!).

laboratorio dvb-h

For the study and development of DVB-H services in the Minerva project, a laboratory has been installed that encompasses all DVB-H services including the radiant stage (with a reduced range).

This environment will make it possible to generate knowledge about the implications associated with TV on mobile devices from both a user and technology standpoint, as well as to create an ecosystem expert in applications for mobile TV.

The companies benefiting from this environment will be able to load their applications in the laboratory and test them there. To this end, they should have PDAs that will connect to the DVB-H laboratory using a DVB-H modem, which will be available in the laboratory.
